Tratolixo is an intermunicipal solid waste treatment company serving the municipalities of Cascais, Oeiras, Sintra, and Mafra that benefits more than 850,000 inhabitants.
With more than three decades at the forefront of urban waste treatment and management, Tratolixo also ensures the recovery of waste by transforming it into various recyclable products that are then forwarded for valorization: electricity and compost.
Producing energy from waste
Between 2012-2022 the company produced 195 GW/h from 900,000 tons of waste. Recently it has pushed the circular economy theme through selective collection waste.
With Helexia, Tratolixo carried out an energy audit, which resulted in indicators that will make it possible to maintain the commitment to the established environmental targets.
