Leroy Merlin, in partnership with Helexia, is using solar self-consumption at its Albufeira store. The 259 kWp photovoltaic plant produces 402MWh of renewable energy per year.

There are 480 panels that produce clean energy, thus avoiding around 189 tons of CO2 annually, the equivalent of planting 4840 trees a year.

The Leroy Merlin store in Albufeira also has charging stations for electric vehicles.

The benefits of investing in solar self-consumption

The major benefits of this partnership are reduced energy bill costs, less dependence on the grid and a smaller carbon footprint.

The photovoltaic plant is a solar carport, so as well as producing clean energy, it provides protection for visitors and employees. It's an excellent business card as it demonstrates Leroy Merlin's commitment to sustainability.

The Algarve's potential for self-consumption.

Due to its geographical location, the Algarve is one of the regions in Europe with a high potential for producing electricity from solar photovoltaic systems. Typically in the Algarve region, the same photovoltaic production unit can produce around twice as much energy as, for example, in countries located further north, such as Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, among others.
