Leroy Merlin has a constant concern in improving the energy efficiency of its stores, present throughout the country. The energy consumption and performance of the store is influenced by the geographical area and store typology. In this sense, Leroy Merlin challenged Helexia Portugal to develop a framework that allows the various stores to be grouped into clusters and thus understand and develop best practices and processes that contribute to improving the performance of these same stores.

Clusterization at Leroy Merlin

This framework defines clusters, considering the climate zone and the store typology, which allows the creation of a reference or measurement standard, used in the comparison of stores - "benchmark".

Leroy Merlin with this tool, developed in partnership with Helexia, can address several issues:

  • Contextualize the differences in performance (energy and therefore economic) between stores;
  • To evaluate each store's potential for improvement in terms of the indicators considered;
  • Identify "best practices" and cross-cutting programs to be launched in the near future to enable practical implementation of the improvement potential;

This tool is an essential instrument to support the design process of future stores and refurbishments, contributing to a more sustainable store universe during the operation phase.
